About

Cathy A. Dore is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Toluca Lake, California where she specializes in Women’s Health, particularly around issues pertaining to pregnancy and childbirth.

Cathy has served as the Marketing & Public Relations Chair for Postpartum Support International, and is a member of the Los Angeles Perinatal Mental Health now, Los Angeles Mental Health Task Force. She is a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She was a co-founder of the Motherhood Consortium, an inclusive community of professionals who provide care and nurturing for mothers, families and their babies either through education, enrichment, or social/emotional support.

Prior to specializing in Women’s Health issues, Cathy gained clinical experience working at the California Family Counseling Center (CalFam) in Encino, California, one of the most highly regarded mental health agencies in Southern California for over forty years. There, she served a diverse urban population working with individuals, couples, and families providing psychotherapy focusing on a wide range of clinical issues including depression, anxiety, stress management, abuse, and trauma. Additionally, she served as a therapist in CalFam’s Child Therapy Program in a school setting where she worked with children and their families. There, she worked professionally with children, adolescents, and families in programs targeting Domestic Violence prevention and at-risk youth from the local school system. She also focused directly on the areas of trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, addictions, and parenting skills.

Cathy has been a contributing writer for the family of Parenthood publications and Baby Magazine. She has also served as a consultant to the Board of Directors of Club 21, Learning and Resource Center, a not for profit organization dedicated to educating, socializing, and helping to integrate individuals with Down Syndrome into families, schools, and community life.

Prior to her work in the field of Psychology, Cathy served as a senior communications and marketing executive in the entertainment industry. She holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern California. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California.
